The police did not immediately offer a cause of death, but they ruled out dr*ugs and foul play, noting that responding officers found his room in “orderly” condition. An investigation into his death revealed that the comedian had suffered head trauma (per an autopsy report), which left him with multiple skull fractures, including the roofing of his eye sockets.

The injury caused bleeding in both sides of his brain. The autopsy also revealed that the comedian had been taking prescription medi*cation but found no alcohol or illegal dr*ugs in his system. He also tested positive for Covid-19. Nonetheless, medical examiners ruled Saget’s death accidental. They theorized that the comedian suffered a fall backward, hitting his head.

Theories suggest that the comedian may have shrugged off the fall and gone to bed, dying in his sleep. While there was no evidence of foul play in Saget’s death, the investigation was shrouded in mystery as there were no witnesses to what happened in the room. Furthermore, his family obtained a court order blocking the release of information surrounding his death due to privacy concerns.
