Ok, this guy clearly has problems (not to mention the harassment) but canceling a show? Really? I don’t really like this “fake moralism”.

^^^

They’re not canceling the show, they’re suspending it until further notice.

Now that his act has surfaced, I seriously doubt many would want to be associated with him… at least for now.

I mean, his image is seriously tarnished, I think audience would be turned off. “Ew, why would I want to see that perv on TV?”

Wow, that’s a pretty…lewd crime compared to being the author of a children’s book.

NHK would be the explanation. They are not that much different than the CBC in canada and the BBC; where its government funded. Log horizon went years between seasons 2 and 3 because the author went down for tax issues as it was an NHK funded/aired series. I think that will be the end of the series as a whole.

The dissonance between that picture and the headline is pretty wild. Very Milkshake Duck.

“Weeb” is something someone from 4chan would use. Assume good faith in what people say.

Also, nice extreme example, but nope, I still believe canceling (ok, indefinitely postponed, same thing) a show because the creator is being an idiot/an harasser is not good. What about the staff? Should they be “punished” because they had contacts with him?

Besides, the show could talk about the offspring of Satan, and I would complain anyway if it were taken off the air. People don’t really consider the consequences of certain actions, even if they may be “good”.

The word “weeb” has lost all meaning and context, same with shit like “waifu” that iirc also originated from 4chan. Idk why you would say “assume good faith” and then imply the person you are responding to is a 4channer.

The point is just that having an harasser as the face of a kids show would be a bad look for the show/company that produced it. What do you even mean by “staff being punished”? Hopefully they got payment for their work already, and im sure having their names in the credits with a harasser wouldn’t be a good look for them either.

The “offspring of Satan” hypothetical you brought up also puzzles me. Like I’m assuming no one here is deeply religious and everyone would agree with that sentiment? Also we are talking about Japanese shows, why would your hypothetical have a threat of being taken off the air anyway??? (Even in heavily Christian influenced countries there is a lot of media with that premise….)

At least, you should be happy the original creator wasn’t caught smoking weed, cause then the show would of surely been cancelled and buried away for good.

You know animators work on more than one show a year right? And rich for you to say I should give you good faith but you baselessly accuse me of being a 4chaner. Rolling Eyes

No, it’s not the same thing. A cancelled show is gone for good, a postponed show will come back after a break. Depending on the planned length of the show and the length of the break, there’s a chance that staffers are still working on episodes and simply using this time to clear work backlogs. Don’t make this out to be a bigger deal than it is.

Most animators work on more than one show at a time, and since the show is only postponed, even if there is a work stoppage they will be able to return to the show before too long. Remember, it takes a lot of time to make an episode so any stoppages in work will be significantly shorter than the show’s broadcast break, since they need to complete the work before it airs.

It’s fine, chill.

I think it’s slightly common for these things to happen, especially these days. Heck, I think I might’ve seen worse happen this past decade (especially in the western sphere somehow) Just look at Twelve Forever and its original creator. No clue how that still got released (Then again it was Netflix who picked it up…) Either way, yikes.
