Fitness enthusiasts gathered Saturday in downtown Conroe for the city’s first “Murph Challenge.” The “Murph Challenge” honors Lt. Michael P. Murphy’s sacrifice and memory by following his daily workout of a one-mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats followed by another one-mile run. Murphy was a part of the same operation where Marcus Luttrell was the lone survivor on June 28, 2005, while battling Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. For his selfless actions, Murphy was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor on Oct. 27, 2007. For more information on The Murph Challenge, visit https://themurphchallenge.com/.
