Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino hopes Ronnie Ortiz-Magro will ‘put the work in’

Sorrentino and his wife Lauren spoke with Michael Rapaport, who is guest-hosting for Wendy Williams, on Feb. 3, 2022. The reality star talked about his many nicknames on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and being a father to Romeo Reign, but Ortiz-Magro’s mental health also came up.

“He’s taking a break [from the show] for his mental health,” Sorrentino said. “He’s gotta put the work in just like anyone else.”

Sorrentino, who is a force of positivity and six years sober, continued: “A lot of the time people think someone is going to come and save them, but in fact, the person that’s going to save you is the person in the mirror. Hopefully he’s going to do that.”

‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ Season 5 continues without Ronnie Ortiz-Magro

Ortiz-Magro announced his break from the MTV reality series in May 2021. He did appear in the season 5 premiere of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which detailed Ortiz-Magro asking for permission to marry Saffire Matos. He has not appeared in any other episodes of season 5.

Ortiz-Magro told TMZ he would likely be back to film for the new season but didn’t specify when. The first half of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 5 is airing at publication, while the cast is filming the second half. Whether or not Ortiz-Magro will film remains unclear.

‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ cast support Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s break

In an interview with Page Six, the cast of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation showed support for their castmate. “I think he handled it the way that he should have by taking his time to get his mental health right [and] go through the process and deal with everything he needed to deal with,” Jenni “JWoww” Farley told the outlet. “We wish him the best and hope he’s doing well now — at least better than before.”

Ortiz-Magro’s other castmates echoed Farley’s sentiments. “We respected his decision to take a step back and focus on mental health because that’s what’s ultimately the important thing,” said Pauly DelVecchio. “I certainly support that decision he made to take that step back and I wanna respect that with him.”

In the past, Jersey Shore fans have been outspoken about Ortiz-Magro’s social media posts, calling them “clickbait.” On Feb. 2, 2022, the reality star shared a throwback clip on Instagram from Sorrentino’s wedding with the caption: “Throwback to my speech at my brother @mikethesituation wedding.” He has the comments turned off on those posts, but fans still show their support on Twitter.

Unlike his co-stars, Ortiz-Magro doesn’t live-tweet when new episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation air. But his most recent activity on Twitter was a retweet: “Get well soon so you can come back to #JerseyShore,” said a fan. “You are truly missed.”
