Until recently, the best pizzas in Tuscany were to be found in the tiny hamlet of Bibbiano. Those in the know would drive for miles to enjoy the TnT pizzeria’s crispy thin-based margheritas and diavolas or more adventurous offerings such as the German-themed wurstel and mustard powder concoction. Then the pandemic hit and the barone, as the beer-loving owner was nicknamed, shut up shop and Bibbiano lost the one thing that put it on the map.
But Bibbiano could soon become famous for more than just pizza if rumours that Elon Musk has bought the crumbling Castello di Bibbiano prove to be true. The richest man in the world has fallen in love with this corner of southern Tuscany since holidaying nearby last summer
