Anticipation is high for this Thursday’s free virtual concert to get a head start on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Rock Against Hate 2.

Both actor Daniel Dae Kim and journalist Ben Fong Torres of Rolling Stone fame confirmed they will make special appearances.

Also magician Travis Kim joins the lineup of entertainers and actress and art model Natasha Tina Liu joins has been added to our rotating group of four emcees.

Kim is a professional magician who specializes in close-up sleight-of-hand magic. His talents have been recognized by the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA, where he has performed more than 30 shows. When he is not shuffling cards, he combines student development theory and performance art theory as a high school math teacher where he strives to help students find their own unique magic they have to offer the world.

Kim joins the previously announced St. Lenox who Rolling Stone described last year as the “artist you need to know,” along with emmo and pop-punk artist Darro, pop-rock vocalist and songwriter Othertones, pop-punk band Cometa, spoken word poet Qui-Shawn Tran and award-winning singer songwriter duo The Complements.

Natasha Tina Liu is originally from Richmond, Virginia. Her film/TV credits include: Synchronic (TIFF), Witch Hunt (SXSW), Here and Now (HBO), Cobra Kai (Netflix), Future Cult Classic (SYFY), Speechless (ABC). Among just a few of her theatre credits are Man of God (Geffen Playhouse), Cocks Crow (Ojai Playwrights Conference & East West Players: Counter Culture), Gob Squad: Creation (REDCAT), The Hotel Play (Playwrights Arena/CTG). Her work as an art model has been featured internationally; highlights include Art Basel Hong Kong (performance art) and New York Fashion Week for Candice Cuoco & Vanessa Simmons. Education: Interlochen Arts Academy, USC – B.F.A. Acting program, Upright Citizens Brigade (Advanced Study Improv).

She will join a stellar group of diverse emcees which already includes actor James Kyson, comedian Jiaoying Summers and comedian Aidan Park.

Rock Against Hate 2 will be streamed live on the Facebook pages of both AsAmNews and The Slants Foundation beginning this Thursday, April 28 at 8:30 Eastern/ 5:30 pm Pacific.

The free concert is a benefit for Stop AAPI Hate, the national reporting center for hate incidents against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Concert goers are encouraged to RSVP to get a reminder and direct link to the festival.

The festival is a joint project of AsAmNews, The Slants Foundation and Asian American Movies.
