Carol Zelizer Stoff, age 72, and lifelong resident of Bexley, passed away on January 20, 2023 following a brief but devastating battle with leukemia.

She was surrounded by family and survived by her husband of 45 years Richard, their daughter Jenni and son-in-law, Sumit; grandchildren, Maya and Sadie; sisters, Sandy, Fahn, Gail, Jill, Julie and Joyce; brothers, Gary, Denny, Jeffrey and David; countless nieces, nephews, and cousins; and literally dozens of close lifelong friends, mentees and soulmates who loved her like a sister. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Mike Zelizer.

Carol was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University earning her BS summa cum laude, masters in public administration, and Juris Doctor at Ohio State’s College of Law with high honors where she was elected to Order of the Coif. On receiving her law degree, Carol joined the international law firm of Porter Wright Morris and Arthur, followed by a legal career with Squire Sanders & Dempsey. Among Carol’s other professional roles, she served as Chief of the Charitable Foundations Section with the Attorney General of Ohio, but her most satisfying professional service was as development director with Downtown Columbus Incorporated.

Carol will be remembered as a person of immense character, grace, goodness and warmth. She was beloved for her kindness, quick wit, and sense of humor. Carol opened her heart and her home to anyone that needed a shoulder to lean on, or to cry on. She listened without judgment, and was the first phone call for dozens of friends and family in case of a crisis. She was a giver, not a taker. Carol instilled these same values in her daughter Jenni who has carried them on to her own family for generations to come.
