Cemetery meeting

The 2022 Brewster Cemetery Association meeting will convene at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the Brewster Baptist Church. All are invited to attend.

Chandler Travis Three-O

There will be a free outdoor Chandler Travis Three-O concert Saturday, May 14 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Brewster Ladies’ Library in the courtyard at 1822 Main St. All are welcome. Bring your own chair and enjoy the melodies of a former Cape Codder columnist.

The Brewster Cemetery Association will soon meet.

Affordable Housing lottery

The affordable housing at Serenity Brewster will soon be available. The housing project at the former Wingate assisted living facility on Route 124 will have 132 apartments with 27 set aside for those making 80% of the area median income.

This is a senior housing project for those age 55 and over. It has been developed by Elevation Financial. The 27 apartments will remain affordable in the future. The facility is open, in part, with studio apartments. Rehabilitation of the rest should be done this summer.

The Select Board approved a regulatory agreement and after a 60-day period, a lottery for the 27 affordable units will be conducted. They should rent for between $1,200 and $1,400 a month, including utilities. Contact the Brewster Housing Office at 508-896-9800 to enter the lottery.

Garden trips

Registration will close May 1 for two trips sponsored by the Garden Club of Brewster.

The first is a day trip to the Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum in New Bedford on Wednesday, June 15. This old whaling merchant’s estate takes up the entire city block with formal gardens known for its roses. The price includes admission, guided tour, lunch at The Wamsutta Club and bus transportation.
