Stephen Merchant has made a mortifying Prince Andrew dig while discussing the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on BBC The One Show tonight. The Outlaws creator, who also starred in The Office and Extras, was in the studio on Tuesday May 31.
He was interviewed by Emma Willis and Ronan Keating, where he revealed what he would be doing over Jubilee weekend. BBC comedy Outlaws returns to BBC One on Sunday.
So Stephen said: “The jubilee? The problem is my show’s on isn’t it so I feel like I’m going head to head with the Queen.” He continued: “It’s quite a tricky one isn’t it? Quite a difficult one to compete with.”

And he added jokingly: “I’ll watch anything that involves royals … Emily Maitlis talking to Prince Andrew, anything.” It comes as The Archbishop of Canterbury has suggested the disgraced Duke of York is “seeking to make amends” as he urged the nation to be more forgiving.
Andrew stepped down from public life after the furore over his friendship with paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, and paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case to a woman he claimed never to have met.
He was cast out of the working monarchy and no longer uses his HRH style after Virginia Giuffre, who was trafficked by Epstein, accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17. The duke denied the claims.
